Faux Meister"s Brush Soap & Conditioner
Decorative artists depend on their brushes to achieve the best results. For best performance, brushes must be cleaned thoroughly to maintain their elasticity.
Faux Meister is the ideal solution for cleaning and maintaining fine brushes. This superb pure plant oil cleans and preserves by returning essential oils to the hair and bristle of your brushes. Works with natural or synthetic fibre brushes-whether using acrylic, water, oil or lacquer paints.

SIZES: 60ml & 250 ml bottles

DIRECTIONS
• Remove excess paint from brushes. Gently wipe with a cloth if using oil or lacquer. Rinse with water if using acrylic.
• Use brush soap undiluted.
• Gently stroke brush backwards and forwards working the soap well into the bristles.
• Rinse well in tepid water until water runs clear and all the brush soap has been removed.
• Reshape and allow brush to dry completely, lying flat, before using again.

MORE BRUSH CARE TIPS
• Never rest brushes on their bristles-store upright when not in use.
• Do not leave brushes soaking in a water container. Clean them as soon as you have finished painting.
• Change your painting water frequently.
• Do not load flat brushes with paint up to the ferrule. It makes them difficult to clean and spreads the bristles.
• Retain your old brushes for experimentation and techniques such as dry brushing.

Magic Mix Medium

Conjure up special glazing effects with Jo Sonja's Artists' Colours and Magic Mix! Combining the qualities of Clear Glaze and Retarder Mediums plus an extender, Magic Mix produces a light seal with low sheen and a non slick surface to allow easy overpainting and correction.
SIZES 60 ml and 250 ml bottles

DIRECTIONS
For floated colour, use Magic Mix instead of water. Dress the brush in a small amount of Magic Mix, side load into colour and blend well on palette. Lay colour where desired. Soften with the clean edge of the brush or stipple blend.
Magic Mix may be used as a general painting medium where transparent colour is desired. Use for layering of colour or col our glazes to create depth in painting.
Blend Magic Mix with colour for strokework, linework and detail paint ing in designs. The addition of Magic Mix increases the transparency and flow of the paint with the ease of quick correction.
Allow to dry before application of additional layers. A hairdryer may be used to speed surface drying.
To extend the open time a light coat of Retarder should be applied to the surface before glazing begins.
Magic Mix is only a light sealer. For added protection, apply a coat of undiluted Clear Glaze Medium between layers as needed and prior to varnishing. Clean up with mild soap and water.
Gel Retarder Medium
A versatile medium compatible with the full Jo Sonja's range. Use with Jo Sonja's Artists' Colours to provide the blendability of oils and to delay drying time without thinning consistency. Can also be mixed with Jo Sonja's colours for use as an antiquing glaze.SIZES: 60 ml and 250 ml bottles

DIRECTIONS:
As a painting medium:

Moisten brush with Gel Retarder and mix directly into palette col ours, starting with a ratio of 1:3.

Blend well with paint. If paint begins to drag during painting, re fresh the brush by picking up additional Gel Retarder and repeat palette blending.

A thin coat of Gel Retarder can be applied directly to the surface for longer work ing time.
The drying time will be greatly extended so extra dry and cure time should be allowed. The surface may feel dry and still be holding moisture. A hairdryer can be used to speed surface drying. Cure time varies due to humidity and climatic conditions.

A coat of Flow Medium or Clear Glaze Medium is recommended before applica tion of varnish. Any seizing or curdling of product indicates uncured Gel Re tarder. Stop application immediately and dry completely before proceeding.

For antiquing:

  • Antiquing works best on a medium or light background. Most transparent or semi-transparent colours can be used.
  • When using Gel Retarder, a coat of Clear Glaze Medium is recommended prior to antiquing.
  • Thin colour with Gel Retarder. Ratio is determined by the strength of colour de sired. Begin with a ratio of 2 parts paint to 1 part Gel Retarder.
  • Apply over entire painted surface. Brush onto the piece making certain to apply into the texture you have created. Coverage should be transparent with no brush strokes showing. Mop if needed, to soften. Dry to tack or until mafte.
  • With a soft cloth, pick up Gel Retarder on your finger and begin to rub softly to remove glaze. As the cloth picks up the colour, use a new spot on the cloth and repeat as desired. Rub gently. Do not moisten with water.
