NEEDLEWORKS

Hardanger Embroidery
Hardanger embroidery is embroidery done on linen, and the end result is geometric, lace-like trimmings.  Originated from Norway, Hardanger is a very functional form of stitching and is used for making bed linens, tablecloths and other household items.
Introduced in Singapore only recently, Hardanger has grown in popularity. Many a cross stitcher have been “converted” to Hardanger. This is because while the finished Hardanger work may look impressively difficult, the basic techniques in Hardanger embroidery are very simple. If you can count to 4, repeat 5 times, you can hardanger!

Silk Ribbon Embroidery
Rediscover the romance of the Victorian Age in Silk Ribbon Embroidery. It is embroidery on any fabric, using silk ribbons instead of threads. The result is a luscious, rich needlework, ideal for that wedding ring pillow, or embellishing your favourite blouse or sweater.
The most popular theme for silk ribbon embroidery is flowers. Roses, sunflowers and other flora make this form of embroidery like flower-arrangement! There is no fixed pattern hence it allows the stitcher to create freely: a couple of roses here, a sprig of baby’s breath there and fill it all up with leaves in all its hue.

Bullion Roses
This traditional embroidery is the ever-popular embellishment for smocked clothes. Often seen on baby clothes and pretty girls’ dresses, bullion roses begin as little grump-like stitches that eventually form a rose.

Add bullion roses to your plain hand towels, or dress up a favourite blouse.
It’s easy to learn and once you get the knack of it, you can whip up quick hand-made gifts!

Cross Stitch
Singapore’s all time favourite needlework. Cross-stitch is the simplest form of embroidery. Choose from the endless range of kits, designs and patterns. From beginner level to the advanced stitcher, there is something for everyone.

*Also check out how you can join the Embroiders Guild of Singapore (EGS). Set up this New Year, the guild invites all stitchers of needlecrafts (from cross stitch to quilting) to join in sharing the passion for the needle & thread.

Patchwork & Quilting
For those who love massive, functional projects, patchwork and quilting is for you. Patchwork is like assembling a jigsaw puzzle with swatches of fabric. Be it in creating traditional motifs or letting your imagination go wild with crazy quilts, patchwork & quilting make timeless heirlooms to be treasured.

Latest Project: Redwork cum Patchwork
